About the Author

Jeanne Ellis Ormrod received her A.B. in psychology from Brown University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in educational psychology from The Pennsylvania State University. She earned licensure in school psychology through postdoctoral work at Temple University and the University of Colorado at Boulder and has worked as a middle school geography teacher and school psychologist. She was Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado until 1998, when she moved east to return to her native New England. She is currently affiliated with the University of New Hampshire, where she occasionally teaches courses in educational psychology and research methods. She has published numerous research articles on cognition and memory, cognitive development, and giftedness, but she is probably best known for this textbook and four others: Human Learning (currently in its fifth edition); Essentials of Educational Psychology (currently in its second edition); Child Development and Education(co-authored with Teresa McDevitt, currently in its fourth edition); and Practical Research(co-authored with Paul Leedy, currently in its ninth edition). With her three children now grown and out on their own, she lives in New Hampshire with her husband Richard.

This is the first book on kindle, that I bought in the store, which is formatted per page (like pdf, but it is not pdf).Font is small, you cannot change font size, 1/4th of vertical space is left blank between text and page number, block of text is like 2/3 of horizontal space of the screen. Also there are clear typesetting issues because words are sometimes glued together without spaces.Everything described above greatly distracts from actual contents. I don't think I would be able to actually read whole book on kindle. Interesting book is unfortunately defeated by poor editing.

I wanted to learn how to make retro pixel art for a programming contest I had entered. I could just not get anything to look anywhere near good given the restrictions of the contest. But I have seen many examples of excellent pixel art with even more stringent restrictions than I had. This book was a great introduction to pixel art. Several concepts that I would have never figured out on my own. The book wont make you an artist, but it can help artists improve in restricted mediums.Grant it, there is probably nothing in this book that can'y be found on the web, but then I can't download the entire web onto my tablet and take it with me. :)

The writing and the organization is a bit too casual, but still a steal at this price. It really breaks down the basics in ways that most other sites/tutorials gloss over. Very useful book if your looking to pixel (or perler) with experience in another medium.

A bit disappointed with this purchase. The product page for this 2015 ebook lists the page count as 686 pages - but in reality it's just 206 pages. Also, there is a notice in the front of the book that the resources needed for the tutorials are located on the author's website and a link is given - but while that website is there, the page/folder for the resources is not.The pages of this book are static like a PDF, not like a regular Kindle book. On my Fire HD 10, the pages are presented only in single page portrait mode. The book is sort of poorly formatted - there are some issues with text overlapping and no breaks between paragraphs.There are nine chapters and three appendices. The bulk of the book is text - so if you're not much of a reader that might be an issue. Overall I would have to say that the author does provide a lot of good basic information and given the price of the book, it's worth adding to your digital library.

Good book on the basics. If you have a bit of experience, this might be slightly too beginner-level for you. It still has some helpful content for intermediate pixel artists, however.

Heavy on the text but informative

This book goes very in depth and has a lot of technical information. It has some great info on what programs to use for pixel art. Just about everything a person needs to know about pixel art.

I was expecting so much more about this, and is really really disappointing. Is really short and have a lack of content.

Detailed precise clinical treatment I need to treat acute patients

The Kindle edition of this textbook does not download onto my Kindle for PC. After de-registering, re-registering, uninstalling and reinstalling it freezes at the same point in download every time, tech support was not able to resolve this issue. If you are planning to use on a tablet or Android device, it works fine with those for me. Avoid if you plan on doing the bulk of your studying using your PC. Otherwise content is on par with other general hospitalist texts. Beware being stuck with a $207 e-textbook with limited functionality!

The printing in this edition is so light, it is hardly readable. The content is excellent, it's just a matter of being able to read with the almost invisible print. I wonder if the copies ordered from the publisher are better and the ones Amazon sells are the rejects? There was no plastic wrapping around this volume and so my suspicions are heightened. I would hope Amazon looks at other copies of this text and checks out the ink quality. The one I received may just be a "ink lemon" but again, it may be the best one will get from Amazon.SGCassiere

So in an attempt to have easy access to this book, I got the digital version. Beautifully converted to digital and with a full table of contents and an index. However, none of the links work. I have to scan page by page until I reach the right section. I am left wishing I had purchased the physical copy because then I'd actually be able to use this book. Very disappointed in this copy.
